The Associate of Arts with a specialization in Music & Worship Leadership is designed to equip students with a balanced blend of musical skill, worship ministry foundations, and general liberal-arts education. Students in this program will develop competence in music theory, musicianship, performance, and worship arts - preparing them for entry-level roles in worship leadership, music ministries, church bands or choirs, or for continued study toward a bachelor’s degree in music, worship, or ministry.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Students will demonstrate core musicianship and performance skills and demonstrate knowledge of music theory, history, and cultural context.
- Students will understand and apply skills in writing, listening, speaking, information fluency, digital literacy, quantitative reasoning, recognizing diverse neighbors in social-historical contexts, and collaboration in ways that align with the commands to love God and neighbor
- Students will demonstrate appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the created world (including humans as created in the image of God) and of human artistic creations in visual art, music, and/or literature while engaging in the creative process
- Students will discern options for both callings and career pathways, articulate how Christian ethics guides those life callings and careers, and grow in virtues that align with Christian vocation
- Students will demonstrate knowledge and love of self and of their diverse neighbors

Notes:
- MATH 138 not required for incoming students with an ACT Math score of 25 or greater.
- MATH 138 not required for majors that require MATH/PSYC 140 or BUS 240 or any MATH course above MATH 140 .
- SCI 202 not required for Natural and Health Science majors who complete one of the following classes: BIOL 332 , BIOL 371 , BIOL 372 , EXSC 413 , CHEM 312 .
- CORE 200 not required for Nursing majors who complete NURS 441 , NURS 442 , and NURS 462 ; all majors in the Division of Business and Technologies (except Mathematics) who complete BUS 281 ; and all Communication, Visual, and Performing Art and English majors (except Integrated Language Arts) who complete COMM 281 /ENG 281 .
- CORE 320 not required for Nursing majors who complete NURS 202 .
- CORE 330 not required for Nursing majors who complete NURS 203 .
Worship Arts Major Courses (21 hours)
4 hours of approved ensemble credit
2 hours in the worship arts ensemble; 2 hours in major ensemble (Symphonic Band or Chorale) Music Notes:
Students have the option of declaring one primary instrument: Voice, Piano, or Guitar Students will have 3 credits of primary instrument Applied Music Voice majors will have 1 semester of Keyboard Harmony Guitar majors will have 1 semester of Keyboard Harmony or 1 semester of Voice Piano majors will have 1 semester of Voice or Guitar (instead of Keyboard Harmony 1) Students may elect to opt out of Keyboard Harmony by passing proficiency and choosing to take 1 credit of applied music instead. Bible/Theology/Ministry (3 hours)
