BIOL 214 - Animal Education and Outreach

This course provides training for students interested in educational interpretation in zoos, museums, parks, etc. By participating in this course, students gain the skills, knowledge, and experience to be an effective interpreter for informal science institutions. This course runs similarly to the National Association of Interpreter’s Certified Interpretive Guide certification program, and covers interpretation techniques, audience engagement, program development tailored to informal education settings, and program assessment methods. Students will be required to work one 2-hour shift each week in the Malone Zoo and participate in externally facing Environmental Educational programming.

Prerequisite(s): BIOL 111 , 112 .
