The mission of the mathematics program is to provide students with a mathematical education which prepares them to understand, communicate, and apply mathematics. As a result, our graduates will be able to continue their mathematical education in graduate school, become effective secondary school mathematics teachers, or apply their mathematical knowledge and thinking ability in service or industry.

Additional Information
Supporting courses are recommended in chemistry, physics, computer science, or business.
Recommended preparation for graduate study in mathematics: same as major requirements. MATH 331, 422 and 435 should be included in the five additional courses; physics and/or chemistry enrichment courses are suggested. For graduate study in statistics, MATH 210, 304, 331, 422 are recommended. Integrated Mathematics
The mathematics major meets the requirements for secondary teaching licensure in Integrated Mathematics when the following requirements are met. If the requirements for secondary teaching licensure in integrated mathematics are met, the requirements for the major in mathematics will also be satisfied. 35 hours of Professional Education:
