Community Health Education, BA


(Bachelor of Arts)

Students completing this program will receive a B.A. degree in Community Health Education and are prepared for careers in health promotion, community health, public health, international health and wellness. Health educators may be employed in voluntary and private health agencies, and in local, state, city, and federal governmental agencies. Examples of employment opportunities include, but are not limited to, the Center for Disease Control, health departments, American Cancer Society, pharmaceutical representative, health communications, environmental agencies, and the Peace Corps. Upon completion of the degree, the community health educator is eligible to take the national Certified Health Education Specialist Examination (C.H.E.S.).

If a student is interested in pursuing a specialty area in public health and/or graduate school in public health (M.P.H.) in the areas of entomology, epidemiology, bio-statistics, environmental sciences, and public health practice and program development or is interested in pursuing a health-related field and/or graduate school (M.S.) in the areas of public health law, health care administration, community counseling, health education, health psychology, and health communications, consult the Community Health Education faculty for recommended minors and supporting courses.
