Middle Childhood Education, BSE

Middle Childhood Education Licensure (Grades 4-9)

This program leads to the Bachelor of Science in Education degree and the Ohio License in Middle Childhood Education, valid for teaching in grades four through nine in the curriculum areas named on the license. This program includes preparation in at least two of the following concentration areas: Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Reading/Language Arts. The concentration areas include 17-21 semester hours of course work. Requirements for each concentration area are listed below and in the Middle Childhood Education program guide available in the Education Office.

The major consists of course requirements in professional education, the literacy core, and the middle childhood core which includes 3 hrs. of methods, and a minimum of two concentration areas (34-39 hrs.) chosen from among Mathematics, Reading and Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
