Integrated Language Arts, BA

A major in Integrated Language Arts is designed to prepare individuals for teaching learners in grades seven through twelve in English and in such subject areas as Speech, Journalism, and Communications.

The Integrated Language Arts major consists of 78 hours including 15 hours of Language and Writing, 12 hours of Literary Traditions, 4 hours of Living Connections, 9 hours of ancillary courses, and 38 hours of Professional Education.

Additional Information


Students pursuing the Integrated Language Arts major must maintain a minimum 2.75 major and cumulative GPA to progress through the teacher licensure program. Candidates are required to earn a minimum grade of C (2.0) for all EDUC and SPED courses and may repeat a course only once. To register for education courses at the 300 level or above, acceptance into Teacher Education is required.
