Additional Information/Electives
In addition to traditional course offerings, the department provides opportunities for practica in applied settings, participation in faculty research projects, and independent study of advanced topics.
Psychology majors must take at least twelve hours of electives chosen from 300- or 400-level psychology courses. A maximum of six of these upper-level hours may be PSYC 420 - Research Practicum and a maximum of three may be PSYC 430 - Psychology Practicum . Students may earn a cumulative maximum of twelve credits of PSYC 420, six of which may be counted toward the psychology major and the other six toward overall graduation requirements.
Students planning for graduate study in psychology are advised to take as many upper-level psychology electives as their schedules permit and as their particular areas of anticipated graduate study dictate.
