This course explores the complexities of human diversity, emphasizing the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and ability to practice ethically in social work practice. Students will critically examine theories of oppression and privilege while engaging in a reflective analysis of their own identities and biases. Through case studies, group discussions, and experiential learning, participants will develop culturally informed, anti-oppressive strategies to promote social justice, advocate for marginalized communities, and create inclusive environments. This course aims to equip future social workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively address systemic inequalities and foster equitable practices in their professional life.
