HIST 112 - Modern World History (3) This class surveys major developments in the modern world, while providing an in-depth examination of at least three different societies. Students will develop skills in moral reasoning by comparing the religious beliefs, social norms, and intellectual foundations of these different cultures, in order to work out how we are best able to live out truth, humility, and justice in a diverse world of goodness and fallenness. By studying the political, religious, intellectual, social, and cultural history of these different societies, students will be introduced to the significance of historical context, change over time, causality, and complexity for better understanding and more fully loving our neighbors.
Offered each semester.
