COUN 688 - Social Justice Counseling (3) This course introduces graduate counseling students to advanced topics in counseling related to social justice issues and advocacy. Graduate counseling students will gain self-awareness, knowledge, and skills in the application of advocacy counseling competencies. Graduate counseling students will acquire knowledge about processes and strategies related to addressing and eliminating barriers, prejudices, and processes that perpetuate oppression and discrimination within society and institutions. Graduate counseling students will also gain knowledge and skill in legislative advocacy on behalf of their client/students and the profession of counseling. Prerequisite(s): COUN 544 or 545 .
