COUN 653 - Assessment and Treatment Planning in Addictions Counseling (3) This course is designed to provide students with advanced skills in screening, assessment, and diagnosis in accordance with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) levels of care and trauma-informed care practices. Students will learn and apply case conceptualization models to treatment planning, understanding systems of care, legal and ethical considerations in treatment planning, and the impact of pharmacology on determining appropriate treatment planning procedures and levels of care. Students will apply treatment planning skills to all stages of a substance use disorder ranging from intoxication to remission with an emphasis on relapse prevention and recovery maintenance. Prerequisite(s): COUN 641, 642.
