COUN 642 - Theories and Practices in Addictions Counseling (3) This course is designed to provide students with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of theories and models of addiction (e.g., moral model, disease model, social learning model, behavioral model, medical model) to enhance case conceptualization skills and ability to interact with cross-disciplinary treatment teams. Students will gain training in pharmacology, counseling procedures emphasizing biopsychosocial and spiritual approaches, and procedures in prevention and recovery maintenance in addictions counseling. Prerequisite(s): COUN 641.
