COUN 627 - Diagnosis II (3) This course is a continuation of Diagnosis I and continues helping students explore the field of psychopathology and diagnosis. Abnormal behavior is reviewed from the perspective of etiology; the course of the disturbance across the lifespan; multicultural factors; and research on treatment, prevention, and effective outcomes. Students will acquire knowledge of mental disorders through the study of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and from the current version of the International Classification of Diseases. Students will learn the diagnostic criteria for mental disorders and conditions, differential diagnostic considerations, and the types of comorbid conditions that occur with each mental disorder. Prerequisite(s): COUN 626.
