COUN 630 - Counseling Practicum (3) Counseling Practicum is a one-semester, supervised counseling experience in which students serve as counselors-in-training at pre-arranged sites appropriate to their program emphasis. Practicum consists of a minimum of 100 clock hours. A minimum of 40 hours of direct counseling (individual and/or group) is required. This course provides for the integration of their on-site counseling experiences with the theories, treatment process, and ethical issues learned in previous counseling courses. Therefore, the primary focus of Counseling Practicum is the development of counseling skills and interventions. Both the site supervisors and the University faculty complete formal evaluations of the students’ performance during the practicum experience. Students must achieve a minimum of “B-” in order to successfully complete this course. Prerequisite(s): For Clinical Mental Health Counseling - COUN 567, 628, and Practicum Application. For School Counseling - COUN 567, 610, 662, and Practicum Application.
