Campus Safety
Campus Safety assists in the safety of all persons at Malone and the protection of both personal and University property. All officers are professionally trained to perform their duties and are here to help as well as to protect. The full cooperation of every student is required whenever confronted by a safety officer.
The campus buildings are closed and locked when not in use. Entrance to a locked building is permitted only with the written permission of the staff member responsible for that area. Any student violating campus regulations or refusing to cooperate with a safety officer is subject to discipline up to and including suspension or expulsion from the University.
Campus Safety can be easily reached if help is needed in an emergency situation. From off campus, call 330.471.8111; from on campus call extension 8111. These numbers will be answered twenty-four hours a day. The Safety Department is here to help when needed. For more information, please refer to the “Home Malone, A Guide to Campus Safety” brochure.
Career Development Center
Assisting all students with preparation – connection – transition concerning their career/vocational goals
Our mission is to assist students as they discover God’s plan for their career/vocational-related goals. We use the terms “career” and “vocation” interchangeably with the idea that God equips His people and calls them to all types of work fields. Our purpose is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need in order to pursue their God-directed careers/vocations or graduate school endeavors. We offer advice from a Christ-centered perspective, making practical applications of scriptural principles.
Career Development Process
- Exploring career options related to a field of study
- Career development strategies
- Job search skills
The staff also equips students with the necessary skills to:
- Gain career-related experience
- Present themselves as viable candidates
- Conduct successful job searches
Career Planning and Exploration
A starting point for any student exploring career options and gaining direction is:
- Career assessment testing. MyPlan is available to Malone University students. This free, online system is designed to help students assess their personality preferences, skills, interests and work values as they relate to the world of work. Students can research hundreds of occupations and academic programs to determine their best fit. The system will also help students determine which careers match with the majors they are studying. Contact the Career Development Center for login instructions and a user license number.
Self-Marketing Skills
While this office is not a placement service, the Career Development Center is here to teach students how to develop their skills, abilities, and God-given talents in respect to their individual career preparation.
Students and alumni are encouraged to make individual appointments regarding:
- Building professional résumés and cover letters
- Developing effective interviewing skills
- Establishing successful job search strategies
Making the Connection
The Career Development staff continues to provide opportunities for students and alumni to meet with employers through:
- Annual events such as the Stark County Collegiate Job Fair, Northeast Ohio Teacher Education Day, and the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges – Career Fest
- MaloneCareerConnections.com is a web-based job posting and résumé referral system that connects students with employers in the Northeast Ohio area and nationwide through NACElink. Students can take advantage of the job search agent which will notify them about jobs that are entered into the system matching with their fields of interest.
- On campus interviews
- Career Development Advisory Council (local employers, faculty and students who have partnered with us to assess our programs, services, resources, events and to develop projects and internships for students)
