The major in Applied Psychology with an emphasis in Chemical Dependency Counseling provides a liberal arts foundation, applied psychological education and training, and eligibility for certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant, Phase 1. It is designed to meet the career interests, values, and vocational goals of students who desire to practice in a clinical setting upon graduation. Completion of this degree can lead to many employment opportunities. Graduates of this program can work in substance abuse treatment outpatient facilities, residential treatment centers, and mental health agencies in such positions as Case Manager, Counselor Assistant, Alcohol and Drug (AoD) Counselor Assistant, Residential Assistant, and Recovery Coach Assistant.
