Graduate Certificate in Addictions Counseling

This Graduate Certificate Program in Addictions was designed for individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree and is offered fully online. Individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree in behavior services or nursing will be eligible for a higher level of licensure than those with a bachelor’s degree in other fields. Some examples of bachelor’s degree programs in behavioral sciences are psychology, social work, human services, and criminal justice. Individuals who have completed a graduate degree in the behavioral sciences or nursing, will be eligible for the fifth and highest level of licensure through the OCDP Board. The level of license eligibility will be described in further detail, as follows. 


The Graduate Certificate Program in Addictions will prepare individuals with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in any field to meet one or more of the three levels of licensure from the OCDP Board: 

  1. Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant, Preliminary 
  2. Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant, Renewable 
  3. Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II


Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences (e.g. social work) or nursing will be eligible to earn one or more of the four levels of licensure upon completion of this certificate program: 

  1. Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant, Preliminary 
  2. Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant, Renewable 
  3. Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II 
  4. Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III  


Individuals who have completed a graduate degree in behavioral sciences (e.g. social work) or nursing, will be eligible to earn one or more of the five levels of licensure upon completion of this certificate program:
