Global and International Studies Minor

The Global and International Studies (GIS) minor seeks to prepare graduates to serve in a wide variety of contexts-including business, ministry, missions, politics, social work, and teaching-around the world. It is built around the theme of globalization, which orients students toward service to people both locally and abroad. The GIS minor offers a choice of two tracks:

Track A requires a semester or summer program of study abroad that includes language study in an approved BCA, CCCU, or other program.
Track B requires domestic language study (at another institution) as well as a semester or summer program of study abroad that does not include language instruction.

Regardless of track, the core of the minor entails meeting four main requirements:

  • Completing the 3-hour gateway course:  .
  • Studying a foreign language (3-8 hours, depending on the setting)
  • Studying abroad (3 hours); prerequisite: POL 212
  • Completing the 4-hour capstone course:

Track A (15-17 hours)

Track B (16-18 hours)
