URBN 440 - Urban Leadership Capstone I

(3)
This course is designed to engage, equip, and encourage current and aspiring leaders with relevant knowledge, values, and skills to be prepared to serve in urban environments within neighborhoods, the marketplace, and at the margins of society. This learning program is both academic and practical, but ultimately designed to develop strong leaders and practitioners who can engage in an ever-changing urban world with ever-present challenges. Students will learn principles of geo mapping in order to understand community assets. They will apply philosophies of Christian Community Development to a chosen community of practice in order to integrate their personal faith and worldviews as they develop a practical theology of service within the marketplace and margins of society. Through active learning, training, networking, and leadership support groups, the course will encourage all participants by connecting them to a larger community of practice, resources, coaching, consultation, and accountability.
