NURS 221 - Health Assessment for the Professional Nurse

The focus of this course is to establish a foundation in conducting a thorough health assessment. Included is an introduction to using appropriate communication techniques, obtaining a detailed health history, demonstrating physical assessment skills, and cultivating critical thinking. Expected assessment findings and variations of those findings are discussed. The integration of health assessment in laboratory settings enable students to practice comprehensive health history taking, physical assessment skills, and documentation of data. Includes one 3 hour lab per week.

Prerequisite(s): BIOL 131, 132; two additional support courses from among: BIOL 190, 371; CHEM 115; PSYC 121, 220.

Offered each Fall.
Transfer students must have Department approval before registering for this course.
