(3)An introduction to statistics with a primary focus on problem solving and statistical literacy. Designed to provide students with the conceptual foundation and quantitative skills needed to analyze and interpret data and to meaningfully interpret statistical results reported in research articles and in popular media. Includes topics such as the quantification of variables, sources of data, sampling procedures, graphical representation of data, measures of central tendency and variability, probability, correlation and regression, confidence intervals, and significance tests.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 130 or equivalent proficiency.
